again a verse which merely says that God tests the mind, not that God can penetrate it. In this case, they would have done better to cite the verse’s parallel in Jer 20:12, which does call God, in so many words, ראה כליות ולב, one who “sees the kidneys and the heart.” Without entering too deeply into the inconclusive discussion of the relationship between these two parallel verses, I would suggest that the use of the word ראה in Jer 20:12 was influenced by the immediately following phrase, אראה נקמתך
